Do you have littles in sports? Does it add any chaos to your life? Well we do and its something that is somewhat new and were still trying to figure out.
Each year when school starts back up our family gets excited for extracurricular activities, especially sports. My oldest is at the age now where she has the chance to have mini-like sessions for upcoming middle school sports. So this year she is did a 5 week period where they learn the basics of volleyball twice a week. This is like a slow intro to give them a taste of how the game is played and if it is something that she would be interested in when she goes to middle school.
Boo is also in tumbling again this year, which she does really like but I think she really wants to do full out gymnastics. That is not really an option where we live unless I want to drive 1 to 2 hours away for classes. We just stick to a local class that she gets to enjoy with some of her friends from school.
Boys will be Boys!
The twins have finally reached an age where they can start getting into the basics of football. They decided to try flag football this year. Now they are very different from one another. Bubba is very loving and has a very big heart, but when he gets pushed to far he is not afraid to take care the problem and deal with it, especially if its with his brother. He does hesitate a little when it comes to others. If it were up to him life would be fair and everyone would get along. Boy don’t we all wish life was like that!
Now Bean is a bit more mouthy and does not have a filter. This is something we are trying to learn to control better, as not every situation needs a comment made. Bean is quick and loves to run and most of the time is not scared to stand up for himself. They really enjoyed the practices and at the end of the short season they did Saturday Night Under the Lights! They get to play a scrimmage game.
The next weekend after the game, Bean got up and said he was ready for his dad to pick him up and take him. I felt so bad when I crushed his little heart and said it was over. He and Bubba both said in sync “There was only one game!” So a little disappointed but they still continue to play in the backyard. I personally love football and I would love for them to find that passion but we will see down the road where their place is.
Go Team!
Speaking of how much I love football, the NFL and college games have started. We are a Chiefs family and proud of it. I never used to watch Pro mostly because you had so many people in your face about who you should like and who is the best. It was just a few years ago that we decided to be a Chiefs family. We are surrounded by Green Bay and Vikings fans. I tend to not be like others and chose a team that is still somewhat close and has a pretty good record. Lets just say the last couple of years have been fun watching The chiefs.
College football is something that I grew up watching and it has always been really big in my family. We are an Auburn Tigers Family. This is sometimes a team that we get a lot of grief for supporting. They tend to be an under dog to the Alabama Crimson Tide. We have had our years though where we have been ahead of Alabama. I still have faith in the Tigers and I will always be a die hard fan even with all the grief that we are given.
Most of my family in the south is divided between these two teams. My grandfather, Big Daddy, loved to watch Alabama play and 3 out of 4 of his children ended up being Auburn Fans. Now my fathers side of the family are mostly Alabama fans. I really think that I am the only one who likes Auburn. My dad and brothers both like Alabama so I am kind of on my own on that side of the family.
The Upcoming Activities
Volleyball and Football are both over now for the kids so now its on to the next thing. Boo will still continue to do tumbling but, this year we are adding archery into the mix. This is something that we started back at the beginning of 2021. Boo and I both did it for a short time, then we took a step back for a couple years for my own mental health needs. This year she has reached the age where she can join the team at the school. I think that she will enjoy it more since there will be more kids her age doing it also.
The boys will start wrestling here soon. This was a first for us last year and a lot of trial and error. Bean absolutely loves it and is so excited for it. Bubba really likes it to but I think his big heart holds him back a little. I think he will continue to grow and learn how to separate the emotions from the game.
Its funny when they are at practice because Bean is super hyped up and fast. He has such an adrenaline rush. Bubba is just there for fun. He pokes around and messes around with his friends. As long as they are having fun and learning somewhat of a life lesson from it, I’m good with it!
Am I adapting to the Chaos?
Bringing sports in and school this time of year, it adds a little more chaos to our lives, but we really do enjoy it. At this point I do think I am just thriving in the chaos and learning to just take it as it comes. I fear that I will get so used to it that when the kids are all grown up and out of the house, I might go crazy with the quietness.
I hope that they will frequently come over and watch football as a family like we do now. Until that time comes I will soak in the memories we are making as a family, as we learn the game, play the games and watch the games. Go Chiefs!
